Seven Prisoners Hanged in Iran- One hanged in Public
Iran Human Rights, January 14: Seven prisoners were hanged in three different Iranian cities yesterday 14. January, reported the Iranian state media. According to the state run Iranian news agency Fars, five prisoners were hanged in the Adelabad prison of Shiraz Tuesday 14. January 2014.  The prisoners who were not identified by name were convicted of possession and "armed" trafficking of 59 kilograms of opium, said the report. Iranian state media also reported about execution of another prisoner in the prison of Ardebil (northwestern Iran). Quoting the public relation office of the Judiciary in Ardebil, Tasnim news agency reported that the prisoner was convicted of selling 17 kilograms of heroin.
 The execution took place in the central prison of Ardebil Tuesday January 14. The prisoner was not identified by name. Also yesterday, one man was hanged in public in Saveh (southwest of Tehran), reported the state run Iranian news agency ISNA. The man who was identified as "Mehrdad A." (40 year old) originally from Kermanshah province (western Iran), was convicted of murdering two people with a "Kalashnikov rifle" in 2010 in Saveh. He was sentenced to "twice retribution"  in public, and his death sentence was carried out publicly (picture) in Hedayat area of Saveh.
