Danger of bloodshed in Iran- Foreign journalists sent out of Iran
Wednesday 17 June 2009
Iran Human Rights, June 16: The unrest and demonstrations have continued in several cities of Iran. Although today’s demonstrations have not been of the same scale as yesterday, we have received reports of smaller clashes and arresting in Tabriz and Tehran.
According to several news agencies, foreign journalists have been asked to leave the country by the Iranian ministry of guidance.
At the same time Iranian authorities have continued putting further limitations on the internet and at the present moment it is not possible to use several chatting programs such as google talk and Yahoo messenger.
We have also received reports about security forces going to houses and seizing satellite dishes.
Iranian authorities have also arrested several close aids to the presidential candidates Karoubi and Mosavi.
The spokesperson of Iran Human Rights, Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, expressed serious concern about expelling of the foreign journalists from Iran and said: "It seems that the Iranian regime is preparing a bigger crack down of the pro-democracy demonstrations. The fact that they have decided to send foreign journalists out, and increased the limitations on the communications could make it easier for the regime to use the highly armed revolutionary guards against the armless demonstrators"
He added: "we can risk an unprecedented bloodshed if the world community does not react"
He asks the European countries, US and the Security Council to warn the Iranian regime against using the revolutionary guards against the peaceful pro-democracy demonstrations. "Iranian regime should be made understood that they could face serious consequences if they open fire on the demonstrators. The warning must come before it is too late" he said.
