Iran Human Rights, May 17: According to several sources two brothers are scheduled to be executed in the central prison of Isfahan in few hours (early Tuesday morning May 17th). Their family have confirmed the news in an interview with the human rights activists news agency HRANA.

The International Campaign for Abolishing the Death Penalty in Iran wrote in an report: According to reliable reports, two young brothers currently held in the Ministry of Intelligence ward in Isfahan’s Dastgerd prison (ward A.T.) were sentenced to death by Judge Moghiseh from branch 24 of the Revolutionary Court on the charge of Moharebeh (enmity against God).

Mohamad Fathi, 27, and Abdollah Fathi, 29, were arrested on March 2010 and transferred to Isfahan prison. According to the family they endured severe physical and psychological torture to accept the false charges against them. The charges include, “Involvement with anti-revolutionary groups”, “Taking action for arms struggle”, “Enmity against God”, and “Armed robbery”.

Bijan Fathi, the father of the two political prisoners awaiting execution told the International Campaign for Abolishing the Death Penalty in Iran that “the sentence was confirmed a month ago in the Supreme Court, and today, the officials told their mother that the executions will be carried out tomorrow.”

Mohammad and Abdollah Fathi have less than 24 hours before their scheduled execution. Their father has asked all human rights activists and organizations to use all of their resources to either halt or rescind their sons executions.

“The confessions that the sentences were based on were obtained under severe torture. Throughout the entire judicial process, my sons were deprived of all of their basic lawful rights, like the right to have an attorney and the right to defend themselves,” said Bijan Fathi.
