Iran Human Rights, August 1: Two men were hanged in two different cities in Iran during the weekend, reported Iranian state-run media.

According to a report by the news agency Mehr, a 40 year old man identified as S. H. was hanged on July 30th in Qom prison (southwest of Tehran). He was convicted of murdering an 8-year-old boy, said the report.

The Iranian media also reported that a young man was hanged in Mashhad prison (northeastern Iran) on July 31st. According to the daily newspaper Khorasan, the man, who was not identified by name, was convicted of raping a 16-year-old boy in March 2008. The report said that the man was 19 years old, but it was not clear from the report whether he was 19 at the time of the alleged crime or when he was executed.
