Mokarrameh Ebrahimi has been given amnesty-But she is still kept in the prison

Iran Human Rights, March 18: Mokarrameh Ebrahimi (43) who was sentenced to death by stoning, has been given amnesty said her lawyer Shadi Sadr to the website Meydaan yesterday. But despite her amnesty, she is still in the prison laong with Ali, her 4 years old son.

Mokarrameh Ebrahimi and her partner Jafar Kiani were sentenced to death by stoning 11 years ago convicted of adultry. The stoning sentence was about to take place in June 2007, but it was haulted thanks to the attention the case received nationally and internationally and the international pressure excerted on the Iranian authorities.

However, Jafar Kiani was stoned to death two weeks later in the village of Taghche Kand outside takestan.

Mokarrameh had left her husband who abused her and lived together with Jafar, when they were arrested and convicted of adultry. They had two children together.
