One man has been stoned to death in Iran, according to unofficial reports

Iran Human Rights, March 10: One man was stoned to death in the northern Iranian province of Gilan, according to unofficial sources from Iran.

According to the student news website AUTNEWS, belonging to Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran polytechnique), the stoning sentence has taken place early morning of March 5. The man who was not identified by name was 30 years old and had been sentenced to death convicted of adultry.

Iran Human Rights is investigating the details.

Iranian authorities held stoning sentences often secret. In several occasions Iranian judiciary has denied that stoning takes place in Iran.

But according to reports at least 7 people have been stoned to death by the Iranian authorities in the past 3 years.

Two men were stoned to death on December 26, in the northeastern city of Mashad.

Iranian authorities confirmed the stonings three weeks later.
