Iranian judiciary confirm stoning of a man in Rasht in March 2009

Iran Human Rights, May 8: Iranian authorities have confirmed stoning of a man in March 2009 in Rasht.

Spokesman of the Iranian judiciary, Jamshidi, said in a press conference that a man was stoned to death in March 2009 in Rasht, convicted of adultery.

Iran Human Rights had published news of the stoning refering to unofficial sources in March.

According to our sources, another man identified as "Mohammad Ali Navid Khamami" is at risk of death by stoning in the same prison.

In December 2008, 3 people were stoned where two were killed as a result of stoning and one managed to pull himself out of the stoning grave.

At least 6 people have been stoned to death since 2007, where 4 of them ahev been confirmed officially by the Iranian authorities.
