URGENT: The minor offender Mohammadreza Haddadi is scheduled to be executed on May 27

Iran Human Rights, May 24: One week after execution of a minor offender in Shiraz, another minor is scheduled to be executed in the same prison.

Mohammadreza Haddadi, charged with an alleged murder at the age of 15, is scheduled to eb executed on Wednesday May 27, in Adelabad prison of Shiraz according to his lawyer Mohammad Mostafaei.

Mr. Mostafaei wrote in his blog, that Mohammadreza’s father has been informed that his son will be hanged on Wednesday. However, Mr. Mostafaei, Mohammadreza’s lawyer has not be informed about the scheduled execution.

Mr. Mostafaei claims that Mohammadreza Haddadi is innocent.

Mohammadreza Haddadi was scheduled to be executed on October 9 2008, but his execution was halted after order from the head of the Iranian judiciary.

Three minor offenders have been executed in Iran since the beginning of 2009. One minor was executed on Wednesday May 20 in Adelabad prison of Shiraz according to several Iranian newspapers.

Despite having ratified UN’s convention of the rights of children, Iran was the only country to execute minor offenders in 2008.
