The Kurdish political prisoner Habibollah Golparipour might be at imminent danger of execution

Iran Human Rights, March 17: According to Mukrian news agency the death row Kurdish political prisoner Habibollah Golparipour was transferred from Orumiyeh prison to an undisclosed location on March 15, 2012, . His personal belongings were left behind, said a close source to the news agency.

The source said: "There is no information about why he was transferred. His fate is unknown. Habibollah Golparipour was accused of ’Waging war against God’ and sentenced to death for his membership in a dissident political party."

Since Golparipour did not take his personal belongings along with him during the transfer, there is concern that the Iranian authorities are preparing him for execution or to endure further interrogations and torture.

This is the third time that Golparipour has been transferred to another location. In the past he was threatened with immediate execution and had been transferred to solitary confinement and the Orumiyeh Ministry of Intelligence office.

On March 15, 2009, Habibollah Golparipour was sentenced to death by branch 1 of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court (in the Western Azerbaijan province) in a trial that lasted a few minutes. The death sentence was later upheld by the Iranian Supreme Court.

Habibollah Golparipour has never received a fair trial and no evidence has ever been presented by the Iranian authorities to justify the death sentence charge. Golparipour was subjected to brutal tortures and has been living in the shadow of death for more than three years.

Iran Human Rights urges the international community to give special attention to Habibollah’s case. He might be at imminent risk of execution.
