Another Horror Show of Public Executions in Southern Iran

Two weeks after the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Iran, where the vast use f the death penalty and public executions was among biggest concerns of the international community, Iranian authorities continue the executions as before. Five public executions have been reported during the last week. Iran Human Rights (IHR) strongly condemns the public executions and urges the international community to react.   Iran Human Rights, November 16, 2014: Three young men were publicly hanged in the city of Bandar Abbas (Southern Iran) Saturday November 15. According to the Iranian state broadcasting the the three prisoners who were not identified by name were charged with kidnapping, rape and armed robbery. IHR can not confirm the charges through independent sources. Iranian authorities' use of the death penalty and lack of due process has been widely criticized by the international community.
