Monthly report for May 2008: Execution of at least 22 people, arrestation of a dozen members of the religious minorities

Iran Human rights, June 7: During the month of May 2008, at least 22 people were hanged in different Iranian prisons.

19 of them were announced in the official Iranian media, while hanging of 3 prisoners in the Rejaee Shahr prison (Gohardasht) of Karaj was only announced by the "Human Rights Activities in Iran".

Kaveh Azizpour (25), a detained Kurdish activist died at the hospital due to what was claimed to be brain hemmorhage. It is believed that he died as a result of torture in the prison.

Several members of the Baha’i community as well as Christian converts were arrested in May. Some of the Baha’is arersted are charged with "attempts against the security of the nation".
