Iran Human Rights (IHR); October 31, 2019: A man was hanged for murder charges this morning at Rasht prison.
According to IHR sources, a man was hanged for murder charges this morning at the central prison of Rasht city, northern Iran. His identity has been revealed by IHR sources as Mehran Ghorbani. He was sentenced to death for murdering his brother-in-law five years ago.
He was transferred to the solitary confinement along with another prisoner for the execution last week.
Out of the 110 people who were executed in the first half of 2019, 83 were sentenced to qisas (retribution in-kind) for murder.
