Iran Human Rights, October 5: According to Radio France International, execution of the minor offender Abbas Hosseini, that was scheduled to take place today, has been postponed. The report didn’t provide further details on why the execution was postponed.

Abbas Hosseini, an Afghan refugee in Iran, was sentenced to death for a murder he allegedly committed when he was 17 years old.

Iran has ratified UN’s convention for children’s rights that ban death penalty for offences committed at under 18 years of age. However Iran is on top of the list of the countries executing minor offenders.
