Ardavan Falahvand and Hossein Mirkarami Executed for Moharebeh in Khorramabad

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); December 26, 2021: Ardavan Falahvand and Hossein Mirkarami who were sentenced to death for moharebeh (enmity against god) and qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder in the same case, have been executed in Khorramabad Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, two men were executed in Khorramabad Central Prison on the morning of December 21. Their identities have been established as 41-year-old Ardavan Falahvand and 39-year-old Hossein Mirkarami. They were sentenced to death on charges of moharebeh (enmity against god) and qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder in the same case.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “They were arrested for killing two people while robbing them nine years ago and sentenced to death. They were charged with robbing people on the streets at night and the judge sentenced them both to death on moharebeh charges.”

According to HRANA news agency which first reported news of their executions, Ardavan Falahvand and Hossein Mirakarami were held in Wards Two and One of the prison respectively.

At the time of writing, neither of the men’s executions have been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.
