Iran Human Rights (IHR); December 18, 2019: Two men and a woman were hanged at the central prison of Mashhad city on the second week of December 2019. One of the men was an Afghan national.
According to an Iranian news website, Borna, on the morning of Sunday, December 8, a man and a woman were hanged at the central prison of Mashhad city, Iran. Maryam (32) and Mehdi (33) were sentenced to death for murdering a woman six years ago.
Also Khorasan Daily reported that on Tuesday, December 10, an Afghan national was hanged at the same prison. Naeim was sentenced to death for murdering a man during a street fight.
Out of the 110 people who were executed in the first half of 2019, 83 were sentenced to qisas (retribution in-kind) for murder.
