Three Public Executions in Shiraz (Southern Iran) Today

Iran Human Rights, August 3, 2014: Three prisoners were hanged in public in the city of Shiraz (Southern Iran) today August 3, reported the Iranian state media.  According to the official website of the Judiciary in Fars province, the three prisoners who were not identified by name were charged with "Moharebeh" (waging war against God) through armed robbery. They had also committed rape, said the report. The executions were carried out in the area of Guyom in Shiraz, said the report. According to Iran Human Rights' annual reports on the death penalty, Fars province  (capital Shiraz) had the highest number of public executions in 2012 and 2013.
