Iran Human Rights, May 11: Five young men were hanged in the prison of Qom early this morning reported the government daily enwspaper Iran.

They were convicted of rape and murder of a young girl by the name Narges in the summer of 2007 said the report.

They are identified as Morteza (21), Hadi (24), Javad (24), Hossein (19) and Mehdi (24) and were sentenced to death by hanging and being thrown off the cliff for "lavat" (a term used for male homosexual sex) and rape and murder of Narges, according to the report.

Iran Human Rights reported yesterday about the scheduled execution of these men.

According to the family of those executed some of the men have never confessed to the crime and there have not been enough evidence supporting the judge. However the judge have come to "insight" that the men are guilty.

Iran Human Rights is now investigating whether homosexuality is partly a reason for the sentences carried out today.
