One man is scheduled to be hanged in public tomorrow Thursday July 10

Iran Human Rights, July 9: One man is scheduled to be hanged in public early tomorrow morning (July 10.) in the village of Ahmadabad near the town of Varamin, reported the Iranian daily Kargozaran. He is identified as Ahmad (32) and is convicted of rape and murder 10 years ago, said the report. Ahmad is the first to be hanged in the public, since Shahroudi, head of the Iranian judiciary, at the end of January 2008 sent an order banning public hangings unless special permission is given by him. He has now approved that Ahmad’s public execution. He will be hanged in public in the village of Ahmadabad (near Varamin, a town close to Tehran), tomorrow morning, if no "problems" take place, said the report.
