Iran Human Rights, August 14,: The minor offender Mohammad Fadayee’s execution sentence has been approved once again by Iran’s Supreme Court, and he could be facing the gallows soon, reported the Iranian daily Etemaad. According to the report his attorney, Mohammad Mostafaee said, “when the Supreme Court approves the verdict, then there is nowhere to go form this point forward, not even a new trial can take place”.
Mohammad Fadaei has felt the rope against his neck twice before. The execution was halted the first time when his lawyers were shown to be "false" lawyers.
Mohammad Fadaei is convicted of a murder he allegedly committed when he was 17 years old.
Iran has ratified the UN’s convention for the rights of the children which bans death penalty for the offences committed at under 18 years of age. However, at least 11 minors were executed in 2007 and 4 minors have been executed so far in 2008 in Iran.
