Iran Human Rights, December 5: Reza Alinejad, the minor offender who was sentenced to death charged with a murder allegedly committed at 17 years of age, is not going to be executed, reported the Iranian daily newspaper Etemaad.
Reza was convicted to murdering Esmaeil in 2003, when he was 17 years old. The supreme court and head of the judiciary had approved the death sentence, although evidence pointed at the fact that the murder was an act of self defence.
However, Esmaeil’s family agreed on pardoning Reza and get blood money.
The Iranian daily Etemaad reported that Reza was released from the jail last Wednesday (December 3).
