Iran: Man Hanged for Drug Offense

Iran Human Rights (IHR); December 11, 2019: A man hanged for drug-related charges at the central prison of the Iranian city of Borujerd Monday.

According to IHR sources, on the morning of December 9, prisoner Arsalan Yarivand (33) was executed for drug offenses at the central prison of the Iranian city of Borujerd.

“Arsalan Yarivand was arrested with 85 kilograms of synthetic drugs four years ago,” a well-informed source told IHR. 

Out of the 110 people who were executed in the first half of 2019, nine were sentenced to death for drug-related charges.
