/ IHRightsAt least 27 names of people killed during Iran’s January 2026 protests appear on official local governorate lists but are missing from the list released by the President’s Office. This is one finding of Iran Human Rights’ report, which publishes a list of more than 4,200 people https://t.co/SeuNaVtDPS20 Sep

Two Men Hanged at Northwestern Iran

Iran Human Rights (IHR); Dec 4, 2019: Two people were hanged at the central prison of the Iranian northeastern city of Urmia this morning.

According to IHR sources, prisoners Ali Mahmoudpour and Morteza Ashrafi were hanged at Urmia prison (also known as Darya prison) on December 4, 2019.

They were sentenced to death for murder charges.

Out of the 110 people who were executed in the first half of 2019, 83 were sentenced to qisas (retribution in-kind) for murder.

There is a lack of a classification of murder by degree in Iran which results in issuing a death sentence for any kind of murder regardless of intensity and intent.
