Delara Darabi's body was buried in the cemetry of Rasht today

Iran Human Rights, May 2: According to sources in Iran, Delara Darabi’s body was buried in the cemetry of Rasht this morning.

Mohammad Mostafaei, one of Delara’s lawyers who wrote in his blog that several hundred people were present in the cemetry.

Delara Darabi, probably the most well known Iranian minor on the death row was hanged yesterday morning (May 1.) in the central prison of Rasht.

According to different sources as well as Iranian daily newspapers Etemad and Etemad-e-melli, neither Delara nor her family or lawyers were aware of Delara’s scheduled execution on Thursday, the day before her execution.

According to Mostafaei’s letter, Delara had talked with her mother on Thursday and still had hope of coming out of the prison and continue her educations. Next morning early she called her mother on the phone and told her that " they are going to hang me adn I can see the gallow, I don’t want to die, please don’t let them hang me".

Delara’s family went immediately to the prison, but they were not let in to see her for the last time. While they were standing outside the prison they saw an ambulance belonging to the forensic medicine leaving the prison yard, most probably with Delara’s body.

None of Delara’s lawyers knew about her execution, before Delara’s parents called them to give the news.

Delara’s execution has lead to outrage among the human rights defenders and organizations worldwide. Amensty International has planned an action in fron of the Iranian embassies in several cities around the world.
