Iran Human Rights (IHR); June 17, 2021: Aram Fathi, a Kurdish writer, civil and human rights activist was arrested by security forces at his parent’s home in Marivan. The security forces were violent and did not have an arrest warrant.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, Aram Fathi was arrested at his parent’s house and has been incommunicado with no information about where he is being detained.

An informed source told IHR: “Two cars of security forces from the police intelligence went to his father’s house early in the morning and took Aram without an arrest warrant, and after raiding the house, they confiscated two mobile phones, two hard drives and a laptop.”

“Aram Fathi’s mother wouldn’t let them in the house so they violently pushed her out the way and even Aram’s younger brother who stood up to them in his mother’s defence was violently thrown into the house,” the source continued.

According to the source, when the family went to find him at the police station, they were told he was handed over to Islamic Revolutionary Guards’ Corps (IRGC) intelligence services, and the IRGC intelligence told the family that they have no information about him.

Aram Fathi is a writer, civil and human rights activist from Marivan and previously a member of the “Molavi” and “Vejin” literary associations and the environmental “Sabz Chia” association.
