38 executions in Ahvaz (southwestern Iran) in the past 11 months- Only 14 were announced by the official media

Iran Human Rights, February 21: According to the official site of the Iranian judiciary in Ahvaz, 38 people have been executed in the past 11 months.

Ahmadreza Rashidi, the vice prosecutor of Ahvaz, said to the state run news agency Mehr that " 4 sentences of amputations and 38 executions have been carried out in Ahvaz in the past 11 months."

According to the reports gathered by "Iran Human Rights", 14 executions were reported in Ahvaz by the official Iranian emdia since March 2009.

Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the spokesperson of Iran Human Rights, said: About one third of the executions have been reported by the Iranian media.
