Mohammad Ali Ojaghi and Robab Danayi Executed in Yazd

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); July 23, 2022: New information reveals that Mohammad Ali Ojaghi and Robab Danayi were executed along with Heydar Heybozadeh on July 21 in Yazd Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man and a woman were executed in Yazd Central Prison on July 21. Their identities have been established as Mohammad Ali Ojaghi who was sentenced to death for drug-related charges and Robab Danayi, a woman sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.

Iran Human Rights previously reported the execution of Heydar Heybozadeh at the prison on that day and that he was transferred for execution with Mohammad Ali Ojaghi. His execution and that of Robab Danayi have now been confirmed.

Speaking to Iran Human Rights about Mohammad Ali Ojaghi’s case, an informed source said: “He was arrested for charges of drug possession five years ago and sentenced to death. He was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution from Ward 14 a week before his execution. His execution wasn’t supposed to take place in Yazd Prison but they executed him.”

According to Hal Vash which reported his execution, Mohammad Ali Ojaghi was a lorry driver prior to arrest.

At the time of writing, none of their executions have been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

At least 251 including 6 women and 67 Baluch minorities were executed in the first six months of 2022. This is double the number of executions in the same period in 2021 when 117 people were executed.
