Iran Human Rights, March 9: Two men are scheduled to be hanged in public in the city of Ahvaz, in the southwest Iranian province of Khuzestan.
The official web site of the judiciary in Ahavaz invited people to participate in the public hanging of two men. One of the men who is convicted of drug trafficking, is scheduled to be hanged in the "Ramedan Alley" (Kooye Ramezan) tomorrow March 10. at 4 pm local time. The other man who is convicted of armed robery is scheduled to be hanged on the "Naderi cross" (Chaharraah Naderi) of Ahvaz on Saturday at 4 pm local time.
Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the spokesperson of Iran Human Rights urged the international community to condemn the scheduled public hangings.
According to the annual report on the death penalty in 2009, published by Iran Human Rights yesterday, more than 400 people were executed in 2009 and at least 41 people were hanged in the city of Ahvaz.
