Hamed Dehghan and Amir Jahangiri Executed in Qom

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); October 18, 2022: Hamed Dehghan and Amir Jahangiri who were sentenced to death for drug-related charges, have been executed in Qom Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, two men were executed in Qom Central Prison on October 15. Their identities have been established as 42-year-old Amir Jahangiri (pictured right) and Hamed Dehghan (pictured left) who were both sentenced to death for drug-related offences by the Revolutionary Court.

Both men were transferred for execution from Ward 1 of the prison, according to informed sources. Hamed Dehghan had been behind bars for drug offences for four years and Amir Jahangiri for three years.

At the time of writing, their executions have not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

At least 251 including 6 women and 67 Baluch minorities were executed in the first six months of 2022. This is double the number of executions in the same period in 2021 when 117 people were executed. On September 10, Iran Human Rights recorded over 400 executions for the first time in five years.
