Four Baluch Men Executed for Drug Offences in Birjand

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); November 7, 2022: Nourahmad Tatozehi, Abdollah Totazehi, Mohammad Khoshhal and Mr Khosravi, four Baluch men sentenced to death for drug-related charges, were executed in Birjand Central Prison.

According to the Baluch Activists’ Campaign, four Baluch men were executed Birjand Central Prison on November 2. Their identities have been reported as Nourahmad Tatozehi, Abdollah Totazehi (pictured), Mohammad Khoshhal and a man only identified as Mr Khosravi.

Ahmad and Abdollah Totazehi who were arrested in the same case in April 2022 and sentenced to death for drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.

Mohammad Khoshhal and Mr Khosravi were arrested in separate cases in 2019 for the same charges and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

The four men were transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for their executions two days prior.

At the time of writing, none of their executions have been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

At least 251 including 6 women and 67 Baluch minorities were executed in the first six months of 2022. This is double the number of executions in the same period in 2021 when 117 people were executed.
