Five Men Executed for Drug Offences in Karaj

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); January 6, 2023:  Five men were executed for drug-related charges on January 2 and 4 in Karaj Penitentiary.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, two men were executed in Karaj Penitentiary on January 2. Their identities have been established as Baluch Ahmad Bechaghchi and Azizbag Hosseini from Lorestan who were sentenced to death for drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.

They were transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for their executions on January 1 along with two others according to HRANA news agency which first reported the executions.

Furthermore, at least three men were executed at the prison on January 4. One of their identities has been established as Rasoul Mohammadi (pictured) who was from Lorestan and had a child.

The identities of the other two men have not been established at the time of writing.

At the time of writing, none of their executions have been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.
