Five Men Executed for Drug Offences in Arak

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); January 12, 2023:  Five men sentenced to death for drug-related charges, were executed in Arak Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, five men were executed in Arak Central Prison on January 12. Three of their identities have been established as 42-year-old Keyvan Amini Tavakol, 41-year-old Azad Dadvand and Ali Geravand.

The identities of the other two men have not been established at the time of writing.

All five men were sentenced to death for drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Keyvan Amini and Azad Dadvand were arrested over two years ago in the same case.”

At the time of writing, none of their executions have been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

The identity of one of the executed men has been established as 36-year-old Mehdi Karami who was married with a young child and arrested around three years ago, according to IHRNGO sources.
