Rallies worldwide in solidarity with the Iranian people: UN human rights reporters must go to Iran NOW

Iran Human Rights, June 12: Many people in most of the major cities worldwide showed their solidarity with the Iranian people’s pro-democracy movement.

Iran Human Rights organized together with Amnesty International-Norway a rally outside the Norwegian Parliament where about 200 people participated despite the rainy weather.

In this rally Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam (spokrsperson of Iran Human Rights), Marit Nybakk (Vice president of the Norwegian Parliament from the ruling Labour party), Morten Høglund (member of the Parliaments foreign affair’s committe from the Progressive party), Mali Steiro Tronsmoen (Socialist party, ruling coalition), Borghild Tendem (MP from the Liberal party), Thor Halvorsen (founder of the Oslo Freedom Forum), Ina Tin (Amnesty International Norway) and representatives of the Kurdish society in Norway, Iranians in Bergen, Iranian refugee association and supporters of the Iranian mourning mothers held speeches.

 

One of the main demands of the speakers and the participants was that UN must send an urgent team of human rights oreporters immediately to Iran.

This demand was supported by all the Norwegian political parties present in the rally.

Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, spokesperson of Iran Human Rights said: "Unlike last summer, this year there are no international journalists in Iran. We must not let the Iranian people stand alone in front of a regime that is able and willing to do whatever it takes to hold on power". He added: "We ask UN to send an urgent team of special reporters immediately to Iran, visit the Iranian prisons and stay there all the summer, and we aks the Norwegian government to take initiative in this process".
