Three Men Executed for Murder in Shiraz

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); March 2, 2023: Mansour Saeedi, Asghar Khosh Sima and Abbas Homavar, three men sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder, were executed in Shiraz Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, three men were executed in Shiraz Central Prison on March 1. Their identities have been established as Mansour Saeedi, Asghar Khosh Sima and Abbas Homavar. They were sentenced to qisas for murder.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Mansour Saeedi and Asghar Khosh Sima were arrested in the same case three years ago and sentenced to death. Abbas Homavar was behind bars for around four years.”

They were taken to the gallows after last visits with their families.

At the time of writing, their executions have not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

Those charged with the umbrella term of “intentional murder” are sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) regardless of intent or circumstances due to a lack of grading in law. Once a defendant has been convicted, the victim’s family are required to choose between death as retribution, diya (blood money) or forgiveness.
