Unnamed Man Executed in Bandarabbas

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); July 27, 2023: State media have reported the execution of an unnamed man for murder charges in Bandarabbas Central Prison. Two others were returned to their cells after obtaining extensions in their case.

According to Rokna, a man was executed in Bandarabbas Central Prison. The report does not specify the date or identity of the man who was sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.

Two other prisoners were transferred to the gallows along with the unidentified man but were returned to their cells after obtaining extensions from their plaintiffs.

Those charged with the umbrella term of “intentional murder” are sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) regardless of intent or circumstances due to a lack of grading in law. Once a defendant has been convicted, as plaintiffs, the victim’s family are required to choose between death as retribution, diya (blood money) or forgiveness.
