Milad Nabati at Risk of Execution in Karaj Penitentiary

Iran Human Rights (IHRNG); November 27, 2023: Milad Nabati who is on death row for murder, was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution in Karaj Penitentiary.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, at least one man has been transferred to solitary confinement in Karaj Penitentiary (Central Prison) in preparation for his execution. His identity has been established as 38-year-old Milad Nabati who was sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.

Should Milad fail to obtain an extension from the plaintiffs in the case, his execution is reported to have been scheduled for the coming days.

Those charged with the umbrella term of “intentional murder” are sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) regardless of intent or circumstances due to a lack of grading in law. Once a defendant has been convicted, as the plaintiffs, the victim’s family are required to choose between death as retribution, diya (blood money) or forgiveness.
