15 Jan 08

Iran Human Rights, January 15: A Kurdish opposition party member Hasan Hikmet Demir, also known as Agit, has been executed in Iran according to several reports. He was a member of "Pjak", which is thought to be the Iranian branch of the PKK in Turkey.

The official Iranian news agency IRNA has reported the execution quoting an Azeri newspaper.

According to the Italian news agency ADNkronos International Mr. Hasan Hikmer Demir was hanged while still on the stretcher that was used to transport him from the prison hospital to his execution in the Khoi jail in western Iran.

However, various Iranian and Kurdish websites published the news some weeks ago.

Iran Human Rights have received some controversial reports regarding the photo published by different websitws. Some sources claim that the photo published in different sites does not belong to Mr. Hasan Hikmet Demir, but to another individual named Bijeh who was executed in March 2004. Other pictures of Bijeh’s execution were published by Sharif news.
