Amir is at risk of imminent execution in Iran for a crime he allegedly committed when he was 16

Iran Human Rights, January 15: A minor offender, named Amir, is at imminent risk of execution, reported the Iranian daily Etemaad-e-Melli today. Amir is convicted of amurder he allegedly committed two years ago, when he was 16, according to the report. His sentence has now been approved by the Supreme court and sent to the "Ejraye Ahkam" (Enforcement of the judgement) section. However Amir’s lawyer has sent an appeal to the head of the judiciary Ayatollah Shahroudi which has to give the final approval.

According to the UN convention of teh childs right, which has been ratified by Iran, no one should be punished by death penalty for offences commited as minors (under age of 18).

Several minor offenders are in danger of imminent execution.
