Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); 8 June 2026: Mohammad Ghasem Abdehvand, Rahim Ghanbari, Faraj Amjadi and Reza Pedram Asivand, four men on death row for drug-related offences, were executed in Isfahan Central Prison.
According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, three men were hanged in Isfahan (Dastgerd) Central Prison on 3 June 2026. Their identities have been established as 33-year-old Mohammad Ghasem Abdehvand, 38-year-old Rahim Ghanbari, both Masjed Soleiman natives and Farokh Amjadi, a 46-year-old father of two from Khomeini Shahr.
Mohammad Ghasem and Rahim were co-defendants arrested around two years ago and Farokh was arrested four years ago. They were all sentenced to death on drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.
Another man was hanged at the prison on 5 June. His identity has been established as 31-year-old Reza Pedram Asivand, a Jonghan native who was from the Asivand Bakhtiari tribe. He was arrested around four years ago and had been on death row for drug-related offences.
At the time of writing, none of their executions have been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.
Drug-related executions have continuously risen every year since 2021. According to IHRNGO’s 2025 Annual Report on the Death Penalty, at least 795 people were executed for drug-related charges, of which only 0.18% were announced by official sources. 13% of all drug-related executions in 2025 were Baluch minorities while they represent 2-6% of Iran’s population.
