Three Men Hanged for Drug Offences in Khorramabad

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, two men were hanged in Khorramabad (Parsilion) Central Prison on 15 July 2026. Their identities have been established 29-year-old Mehdi Shahrisvand (middle photo) and 30-year-old Alireza Barani (right photo), two men arrested in a joint case around two years ago. They were sentenced to death on drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.

Furthermore, another man was hanged at the prison on 17 July. His identity has been established as 38-year-old Akbar Sheikhmiri (left photo) who was arrested around three and a half years ago. He was also on death row for drug-related charges.

The three men were transferred to the pre-execution solitary confinement cells on 14 July. Mehdi and Alireza were executed the next day, while Akbar’s execution was carried out two days later.

At the time of writing, their executions have not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

Drug-related executions have continuously risen every year since 2021. According to IHRNGO’s 2025 Annual Report on the Death Penalty, at least 795 people were executed for drug-related charges, of which only 0.18% were announced by official sources. 13% of all drug-related executions in 2025 were Baluch minorities while they represent 2-6% of Iran’s population.
