One Prisoner Hanged in Northern Iran

Iran Human Rights (MAR 7 2016): A prisoner charged with murder and sentenced to death was reportedly hanged at Gorgan Central Prison.
According to the human rights group, HRANA, the prisoner, Hojat Saadatyar, 38, was hanged on the morning of Sunday March 6.
According to HRANA, Saadatyar was scheduled to be hanged a couple weeks earlier, but his execution sentence was postponed for unknown reasons.
Iranian official sources, including the Judiciary, have been silent about Saadatyar's execution.

Ahmad Parviz, a former lawyer, was executed in Ghezelhesar Prison on 14 October 2026 after being sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for the murder of his wife, Mansoureh Ghadiri-Javid, a 52-year-old IRNA journalist.
