Iran Human Rights (NOV 7 2016): Six prisoners with drug related charges were reportedly hanged at Mashhad's Vakilabad Prison (Razavi Khorasan province, northeastern Iran). According to the state-run news agency Rokna, the executions were carried out on Sunday November 6.
The news was announced by Hojjatolislam Mozaffari, head of the Khorasan Razavi Judiciary, during an inauguration ceremony on the same day as the executions. In his speech Mr. Mozaffari did not mention the names of the prisoners, the exact location of the executions, or any details about their case files.
The human rights news agency HRANA has reported on the execution of three prisoners at Vakilabad Prison on Sunday November 6. The report has identified the names of the prisoners as: Ahmad Adampour, Aref Rahmati, Vali Mohammad Barzegar. Iran Human Rights believes these three executions may be among the ones reported by Mr. Mozaffari.
