Young Prisoner Hanged on Murder Charges

A young prisoner was hanged on murder charges.

Iran Human Rights (AUG 9 2017): A prisoner was reportedly hanged at Shiban Prison in Ahwaz on murder charges. According to close sources, the execution was carried out by Iranian authorities on the morning of Tuesday August 8, and the prisoner has been identified as Fazel Mazraeh, 27 years of age. He allegedly murdered one of his relatives about two years ago.

"Two years ago, when Fazel was 25, he was accused of killing his uncle during a family dispute. He would have been spared from execution had he been able to raise the [approximately $30,000 USD] blood money," Karim Rahimi, an Ahwazi human rights activist based in London, UK, tells Iran Human Rights.

Iranian official sources, including the Judiciary and the state-run media, have not announced Fazel Nazraeh's execution.
