Forgiveness instead of Qisas: Prisoner Saved from Execution in Iran

Iran Human Rights (Sep 9, 2018): Rashid Sandakzehi, whose transference to the solitary confinement was reported by IHR earlier, was able to win the consent of the plaintiffs and returned to his cell.

According to a close source, on the morning of Thursday, September 6, Rashid Sandakzehi was transferred to the solitary confinement. On the morning of Saturday, September 8, the prisoner, who was sentenced to death on murder charges, was scheduled to be executed but he was able to win the consent of the plaintiffs and returned to his cell.

According to a report by HRANA, the prisoner was transferred to the solitary confinement from ward 4 of Zahedan Central Prison.

Rashid Sandakzehi was transferred to the solitary confinement two months ago but he was able to ask for time from the plaintiffs.

According to the law of Qisas, the victim’s family decides whether the convict lives or dies which is nothing more than revenge and can lead to an increase in violence in a society.
