Political Prisoner Ghader Mohammadzadeh in “Dire Physical Condition” on 22nd Day of Hunger Strike

Iran Human Rights (IHR); August 21, 2021: Kurdish political prisoner, Ghader Mohammadzadeh who went on hunger strike in protest to “his furlough being rejected and his bail being seized’ is reported to be in a “deteriorating physical condition.”

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, Ghader Mohammadzadeh who is a political prisoner in Ward 3 of Yazd Central Prison, and has been on hunger strike since July 31 in protest to “his furlough being rejected and his bail being seized”, is in a deteriorating physical condition.

Speaking to IHR, an informed source said: “He is suffering from hypotension and dizziness and has lost a lot of weight and his condition has deteriorated to the point that his cellmates have to hold him so he doesn’t fall over.”

“So far, none of the prison officials have come to check on him and according to Ghader himself, he has been abandoned,” the source added.

Ghader Mohammadzadeh is a 44-year-old Bukan native who has been behind bars on political charges for almost 17 years.

Ghader was arrested by Bukan Intelligence on 11 December 2005 and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and exile to Yazd Central Prison by the Mahabad Revolutionary Court on charges of “moharebeh through membership of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan.” He has never been granted furlough.
