Four Baluch Men Secretly Executed in Zahedan

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); December 5, 2022: Gholam Rasoul Mazarzehi, Anoushirvan Omarzehi, Naser Omarzehi and Alireza Narouyi, four Baluch men sentenced to death for drug-related charges, were secretly executed in Zahedan Central Prison. Over 500 people have so far been executed in 2022, the highest rate in five years.

According to Hal Vash, two Baluch man were executed in Zahedan Central Prison on December 4. Their identities have been reported as Gholam Rasoul Mazarzehi and Anoushirvan Omarzehi.

Gholam Rasoul’s brother, Abdolnabi Mazarzehi who was also his co-defendant, was executed at the prison on November 28.

Two other Baluch men were executed at the prison on December 5. Their identities have been reported as 32-year-old Naser Omarzehi and 39-year-old Alireza Narouyi. They were arrested in the same case around ten years ago and sentenced to death for drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.

All four men were executed without their families being notified and the opportunity to say goodbye.

At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

At least 498 people including 2 juvenile offenders and 13 women have been executed so far in 2022. Of the 498 people, 221 were executed for drug-related charges and 147 were Baluch minorities.
