Mohsen Samadi Executed for Drug Charges in Saveh

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); July 3, 2023: Mohsen Samadi was executed for drug-related charges in Saveh Prison two weeks ago.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was executed in Saveh Prison on 19 June. His identity has been established as Mohsen Samadi who was sentenced to death for drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Mohsen Samadi was transferred from Arak Central Prison to Saveh Prison prior to execution. Because he was arrested in Saveh, his sentence was carried out in Saveh Prison.”

Despite two weeks passing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

Drug-related executions have continuously risen every year for the past three years. 206 people were executed for drug-related charges in the first six months of 2023, a 126% rise compared to the same period in 2022 when 91 were executed. 40 people were executed in the same period in 2021.
