Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); October 16, 2024: Ali Mojadam, Moein Khanfari, Mohammadreza Moghadam and Adnan Ghabishavi (Mousavi), four Arab political prisoners on death row for charges of baghy (armed rebellion) have been transferred from Ahvaz Sheiban Prison to the pre-execution solitary confinement cells of Ahvaz Sepidar Prison. Along with Habib Deris and Salem Mousavi, they were tortured to extract false confessions which were aired on national television and used as the method of proving their guilt in unfair proceedings.
According to Karun Human Rights Organisation, Arab political prisoners Ali Mojadam, Moein Khanfari, Mohammadreza Moghadam and Adnan Ghabishavi (Mousavi) were transferred from Ahvaz Sheiban Prison to the pre-execution solitary confinement cells of Ahvaz Sepidar Prison on 16 October.
They have two other co-defendants who are also on death row named Habib Deris and Salem Mousavi. Arrested in Ahvaz, the six political prisoners were subjected to torture and ill-treatment in detention and their forced confessions used as proof of guilt. According to official reports, they were forced to admit to membership in Harkat Nezal and participation in the same terrorist attack as Habib Asyoud.
Ali Mojadam and Mohamadreza Moghaddam were charged as “leaders of the group’s domestic branch” and all men were sentence to death for “membership in a baghy group, the armed branch of Harkat Alnezal al-Arabi in Iran with aim of armed rebellion against the Islamic Republic system by the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court in February 2023.
Their torture-tainted confessions were also aired prior to the commencement of legal proceedings.
The six political prisoners were previously transferred to the pre-execution cells last May after holding a ceremony for executed Habib Asyoud,
