Four Prisoners Executed in Northern Iran

11 executions have been reported in Iran so far for Wednesday July 27th.

Iran Human Rights (AUG 4 2016): Last Wednesday three prisoners were executed at Khoy and Salmas prisons, and one prisoner was hanged this Wednesday at Taybad Prison, say unofficial sources. All the prisoners were reportedly hanged on drug related charges.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reports on the execution of two prisoners on Wednesday July 27 at Khoy Prison (West Azerbaijan province, northwestern Iran) on drug related charges. The prisoners have been identified as Davoud Mohammadi and Ahmad Rastegari. Also on July 27th, a prisoner identified as Shapour Warsho Hashtian was reportedly hanged on drug related charges at Salmas Prison (West Azerbaijan province, northwestern Iran).

According to HRANA, a prisoner identified as Majid Nazari was executed on Wednesday August 3rd at Taybad Prison (Razavi Khorasan province, northeastern Iran) on drug related charges. Earlier, Iran Human Rights had reported on the execution of three other prisoners on August 3rd on drug related charges. The men were executed at Saqqez Central Prison (Kurdistan province, northwestern Iran). Four executions have been reported so far for August 3rd.

Iran Human Rights had published a report on the execution of six prisoners on Wednesday July 27 at Urmia Prison (West Azerbaijan province, northwestern Iran) on drug related charges. There have been nine executions reported so far for July 27th in the West Azerbaijan province of Iran.

Two other prisoners were also executed on July 27th, according to a report by Iran Human Rights. One of the prisoners, identified as Reza Sabzevari, 32, a former police officer who worked in the department to fight against drugs, was executed at Mashhad Central Prison (Razavi Khorasan province, northeastern Iran) on unknown charges. The other prisoner, identified as Nasrollah Reigi, imprisoned for five years before he was executed, was hanged at Yazd Central Prison (central Iran) on drug related charges.

Iranian official sources, including the Judiciary and the media, have been silent on all of these executions. There have been 11 executions reported so far in Iran for Wednesday July 27th. It is important to note that all the executions were for drug related charges and majority of them were carried out in the northern regions of Iran.
