Iran Human Rights (APR 5 2017): A prisoner was reportedly hanged at Tabriz Central Prison on the morning of Tuesday April 4 on murder charges.

According to the human rights news agency, HRANA, the prisoner's name is Morovat Abbasi, a man who, prior to allegedly committing murder, was diagnosed with a mental illness and exempted from mandatory military service.

This is the first reported execution in the Iranian New Year (March 20, 2017). Iranian official sources, including the media and the Judiciary, have been silent about Marout Abbasi's execution.
